At the Westerway Raspberry Farm, we believe in reliably providing the freshest, best tasting berries possible to our many and varied customers. From humble beginnings over 25 years ago, we continue to grow our berry farm and supply customers across the country.

The Westerway Raspberry Farm is situated on the fertile river flats of the Tyenna River, running through the Derwent Valley in Tasmania’s rugged Western Wilderness region. Owned and operated by the Clark family, Westerway Raspberry Farm has been supplying thousands of kilograms of fresh and frozen raspberries, blackcurrants, blackberries and other seasonal soft fruits to Tasmanian and Australian markets for over 20 years. With over 40 hectares of land under berry and soft fruit production, The Westerway Raspberry Farm prides itself on the innovation that has established it as a Derwent Valley icon.

Our Farm Gate shop is open daily from 9am to 5pm throughout the summer, from the beginning of December through to the end of May. Conveniently located along the drive to Mt Field National Park, the Farm is a popular stop of tourists and locals alike. Drop in for fresh berries, ice-cream, coffee and local produce, or make a day of it and pick your own! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What are your opening hours? 

- We are open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm from December to May (can change slightly due to seasonality)

What fruit do you have available to pick?

Different varieties fruit at different times through the season. A guide to availability is below:

• Raspberries         early December to end January
• Strawberries        late November to Autumn
• Red Currants       mid December to mid January
• Tayberries            mid December to mid January
• Silvanberries       mid December to mid January
• Blueberries          end December to early February
• Boysenberries     early January to early February
• Blackberries        early January to early Autumn
• Josterberries       early January to end January
• Blackcurrants      mid January to end January

Can I buy berry plants? 

- Sometimes Grandfather and Grandson duo, Rob and James, bring down raspberry and strawberry plants to the shop for sale. Best to call the shop (0447010701) before making a special visit out the the farm to buy plants to check availability

Can I bring my dog/pets? 

- Given we have food safety systems and protocols, we can't allow animals into our fields. But pets are welcome to join owners in the seating area if on a leash and enjoy the company of others. There is lots of shade and space and a river and tap for them to keep hydrated. 

Do you spray your fruit and do we need to wash your fruit?

 - As mentioned above, we grow our fruit under strict food safety protocols. We are not organic but we use minimal sprays and we love bugs that help pollinate our crop and eat bad bugs. Given our programs and the fact we don't spray the fruit itself and hence no residues on the fruit, we suggest washing your hands rather than washing the fruit. Can we buy your products online? 

- We are good farmers but we are not "'online natives" and the business is not geared to regularly posting out product. We are at Salamanca Market year round at site 102 if you live locally and want to buy some of our products year round. If you are interstate and you love the Westerway Berry Farm syrup, you can order online through DanMurphys.com.au. And if you love our jam so much that you would like to order a case of 24 jars, uncle Des is happy to make an exception to our mailing position
